Zone Day est l’un des vinyles tournant le plus sur mes platines, et cela depuis bien un an.
A dire vrai, du groupe The MFA, je n’en sais strictement rien, à part qu’ils ont signé sur le prestigieux label d’Ellen Allien, “BPitch control”.
Pas d’album à l’horizon, pas d’EP trouvables à la pelle. Rien qu’un remix pour Ellen Allien qui a eu un peu d’écho. Le reste, je n’en ai strictement aucune idée.
Cette galette, je l’ai acheté en même temps que l’EP de Dj Feadz, sur le même label, fin 2005 avec un artwork plus que semblable vu leur sortie presque simultanée. Une pierre deux coups quoi. Une valeur sur et une découverte à l’instinct.
Boum. Le Feadz a du tourner 10 fois maximum, complètement écrasé par la classe et la qualité de ce Zone Day.
Que dire. Comment résister à un disque qui vous plonge directement, après avoir poussé le boutton “Start/stop”, dans le meilleur de la musique électronique que vous écoutiez il y a une poignée d’année, tout en sonnant méchamment actuel, ou même presque en avance sur ce que l’on pourrait nous servir d’ici peu.
Vous rendre fou, comme à la bonne époque des Prodigy, des Underworld et Faithless (d’ailleurs il faut que je me renseigne sur leur dernier album), sans vous coller l’étiquette du mec qui ne reste que sur ces acquis, sur le vieu son qui refuse d’avancer.
Disco 2 Beat est une tuerie Absolue. Un rythme enlevé, un synthé lancinant, presque glauque, et ses voix “I feel my disco beat” qui reviennent inlassablement. Jusqu’à ce que le break arrive et face monter la note, progressivement, non sans quelques triturations, pour transporter le tout sur des nappes électroniques semblables à des choeurs étouffés. Enorme. A vous retourner n’importe quelle tête un temps soit peu sensible à ce mélange Electro/Acid/Rave…
Le synthé est juste magique. Le tout marche sur un équilibre parfait, entre reprise de souffle et rythmique martial. Le tout est en apesanteur, presque mélancolique, proche de l’explosion, à en filer la chair de poule, sans jamais tomber dans la facilité d’éclater de toute part. Un des plus beau morceau du genre, tout simplement.
Rinse Time va lui carrément faire tourner les têtes des nostalgiques de la grande époque. On vérifiera presque que Liam Howlett n’est pas l’un des membres cachés de The MFA…
La rythmique est Drum and Bass, claquante comme jamais, alors que la ligne mélodique, au synthé crade, semble tout droit sorti de “The Experience” ou “Music For Jilted Generation” de The Prodigy. La même fougue, la même claque, alors que l’on pensait le genre galvaudé au maximum, perdu et mou à jamais. On a envie de se jeter partout dans une pièce en mode multicolore, les gens bougeant n’importe comment autour de nous, écartant les bras et tirant la langue.
Overhang commencera de façon plus lourde, plus appuyée, plus hermétique aussi. Mais encore une fois, les claviers font tout le boulot, survenant de nulle part, traversant le début de la rythmique plutôt aride, comme un aigle frôlant sa proie pendant quelques secondes, avant de remonter bien plus haut que son premier assaut.
Mais le morceau, du haut de ses 8 minutes, va laisser transpirer ses reminescences Trance avec ses nappes de plus en plus présentes, enveloppant tout le reste au final. On se sent partir, comme dans un cocon d’électronique, près à tutoyer les différentes strates du trip sous acid. Un vrai morceau de fin de soirée, quand les corps sont extérieurement moites et morts.
Moins ultime que les deux précédents, mais tout aussi bon à écouter.
3 Morceaux, conséquents, imparables, avec en point d’orgue le miracle Disco 2 Break que tout amateur d’électronique doit absolument écouter.

Vous n’avez pas de platines? Débrouillez vous autrement, mais posez une oreille sur ces morceaux…
A dire vrai, Ce Zone Day nous fait croire connement, mais de la plus belle des manières, que tout n’est pas fini en matière d’éclate Dance Rave de qualité. Ou pour éviter des catégories qui ne veulent finalement rien dire, simplement nous redonner foi en mecs qui s’éclatent sur leur synthés, nous infligeant un gros kick pour marteler le tout. Le reste c’est juste de la magie et du talent.
Allez allez… avec la vague electro Minimale, nos enceintes font overdose. Pourquoi pas revenir à ce putain de son suintant, ultra péchu et festif, sans pour autant tomber dans la facilité et le bourrin?
A moins que The MFA ait simplement voulu foutre un coup de pied dans la fourmilière, pour nous montrer que nous ne prenions peut être pas la meilleure des directions. Nous rappeler qu’on se fendait bien la gueule il y a 8-10 ans quand même… tout en nous susurrant à l’oreille que l’on pourrait bien aussi se fendre la gueule dans les 10 ans à venir.

Viens les synthés… monstrueux :love: un synthé “bass” qui sonne acide… de quoi faire contraste avec un synthé “nappe” d’une beauté infini… Planant à l’extrème… la chronique ne ment pas… j’ai jamais eu autan de frisson en 8 minutes :love:.
ma vieille platine a rendu l’ame il y a quelque smois mais je me contente de mp3 et cd…. le probleme c’est que MFA impossible à trouver, ni meme écouter un extrait. c’est possible de mettre en ligne un court extrait histoire de me faire une idée, style disco 2 beat qui a l’air d’être simplement une tuerie…
