Ce n’est pas moi qui le dit, mais la pochette. Qui énonce même un “Blue Music for chill Out / after Hours? pas piqué des hannetons. Tout un programme. Je ne vais pas refaire un pamphlet sur Dj Krush, qui peut prétendre être l’un des artistes que je respecte le plus. Je pensais d’ailleurs connaître 99% de ce que ce dernier avait fait. Bien mal m’en a pris, on en apprend tous les jours. Un disque sorti en 2002 donc ( !! ), consacré au remix d’un certain Tetsuya Komuro par Dj Krush.
Pour le coup, je ne savais strictement pas qui était ce Tetsuya Komuro. Il apparaît pourtant comme étant une véritable star de la musique electro grand public au Japon, collaborant avec les grandes têtes des Charts que sont Yoshiki de X Japan ou la miss Ayumi, et sonorise films, animes et grands concerts d’une Techno très psyché, presque spirituelle, bourrée de nappes sucrées et de rythmes appuyés. Une sorte d’Underworld en plus kitsch, voir un équivalent nippon de notre Jean Michel Jarre national. Justement, ces deux amateurs de claviers fumeux ont collaborés ensemble pour un disque sorti pour la coupe du monde de Football ( ?!?) en 98 (quelqu’un en avait sincèrement déjà entendu parlé ?) avec sur l’un des titres un featuring (attention tenez vous bien) de “Marc Panther”. Ebouriffant.
Bref, outre une façade sous les projecteurs, le japonais se plait aussi à délirer sur de longues plages Techno ambiant, très Chill out, parfaites pour partir une petite heure dans un univers ouaté, en apesanteur. Et c’est à Dj Krush qu’incombe la responsabilité de torturer un petit peu Blue Fantasy, pour un disque qui semble avoir été complètement passé inaperçu, même dans les discographies officielles de Mr Krush.
Une piste. Un seul morceau. De 15 minutes. Pourtant placé dans un bel écrin, comme tout album qui se respecte, avec photos de Dj Krush et teintes bleutées, dans une imagerie très Chill out. Pas de surprise donc dans le matériel sonore de “base” servant au remix de Dj Krush. Et connaissant bien le travail de ce dernier, on décèle sans nul doute ce qu’étaient les fondations de ce remix, même sans jamais avoir écouté la version originale (et c’est pas faute d’avoir essayé)
Première réaction, presque naturelle sur une production de Krush : Le beat est bon. Carrément jouissif. Un bon rythme Hiphop, bien syncopé, comme on en fait plus, à vous faire balancer la tête d’une façon inconsciente en deux minutes. Surtout plongé dans ce lit de nappes ultra planantes, très belles, cristallines comme jamais.
Deuxième réaction : C’est quoi ces guitares toutes kitsch ?!? Hey oui, on est dans de la Dance Psychédélique, et la guitare inhérente au genre est ici aussi de la partie. Vous savez, ces longues notes de guitares très claires et éthérées façons génériques de Ushuaïa ou autre programme nous expliquant que la terre, ben elle est quand même drôlement belle même si elle a besoin d’une transfusion fissa. Il faut donc s’y faire, et certains partiront directement en hurlant d’effroi. Pourtant, le tout est tellement apaisant, tellement planant, avec cet enchevêtrement de nappes célestes, que le tout frise le sublime, évidemment surplombé du rythme appuyé bien balancé par Dj Krush. Le tout sur un semblant de sample oriental remplissant parfaitement son office.
Apres une demi douzaine de minute, les teintes se font plus sombres, des nappes nous vrillent la colonne vertébrale. Le beat est plus présent, toujours très hip-hop, la guitare se perd dans de multiples réverbérations et la chape de clavier continue d’entretenir une atmosphère très ouatée. On dodeline de la tête, et on se laisse donc emporter dans ce beau voyage synthétique, en s’étonnant même de fredonner la mélodie évidente distillée tout au long de ce Blue Fantasy.
C’était sans compter sur le platiniste japonais, qui n’a pas pour habitude de s’enfermer dans une routine linéaire. Car dans le dernier tiers du morceau, on va virer sans prévenir dans bonne une Drum & Bass des familles. Le rythme claque, file comme le vent, et nous balance sur le toit d’un train à grande vitesse après nous avoir fait longtemps survolé les nuages. Mais ne me faite pas dire ce que je n’ai pas dis, l’orientation du morceau reste la même, avec la guitare et les claviers toujours bien présents. L’aspect gracieux et harmonieux n’est pas mis au ban, et l’on plane toujours autant, mais cette petite montée finale est plus que bénéfique, et nous fait penser aux disques de Drum & Bass un peu oldschool, celle que l’on habillait de cordes et nappes bienfaisantes, façon Goldie ou 4 Hero, plutôt que de déchirures crades et digressions saccadées pour désaxés. Il manque plus que la petite voix soul et l’on s’y croirait.
Il est évident que le disque n’aura que peu d’intérêt pour ceux qui n’ont rien à carrer de Dj Krush. Mais ceux qui se prosternent devant ce mec tous les matins, surtout s’ils apprécient la face “électronique” du bonhomme, seront aux anges. On pourra arguer sur le fait que le coté “Lounge” est un peu trop présent, ou que la guitare peu irriter au départ, mais l’on fait rapidement abstraction de tout cela pour se laisser dériver sur cette très agréable pièce d’un quart d’heure. Sans compter que l’EP nous emmène sur des territoires rarement foulés par Dj Krush.
Bref, c’est beau, enivrant, mélodieux, et fortement recommandé pour ceux qui apprécient le travail du maître japonais. Aucune surprise, très consensuel, mais foutrement envoûtant et planant. En attendant un nouvel album…
Attention, chercher ardemment un exemplaire de ce disque peut provoquer un certain désespoir. Nous déclinons toute responsabilité en cas de crise de démence.

Samedi 02 août 2008, à proximité de Clermont-Ferrand, la 6ème édition du Festival de Domaize, se déroulera sous le thème « Le corps et l’esprit ». Pour ceux qui croient que l’Auvergne est seulement synonyme de volcans, faites un break au Festival de Domaize ! Impulsé il y a 5 ans par quelques jeunes débordant d’initiatives et soucieux de proposer une offre culturelle de proximité, ce festival est le fruit d’une passion musicale.
Après une année 2007 qui a notamment vu passer Hocus Pocus et Wax Tailor, cette 6ème édition révèle une fois encore la puissance de ce festival. Seront présents le grand DJ Krush (date unique en France – été 08), DJ japonais de renommée mondiale et père du DJing, Sayag Jazz Machine, magiciens jonglant entre images et sons drum’n’bass jazz aérés, Beat Assailant, savant mélange de hip hop et de jazz ou encore Beat Torrent, dont les platines se transforment sous leurs doigts en de véritables instruments.
La musique oui, mais pas seulement. Le festival de Domaize serait bien peu de choses sans l’engagement citoyen dont il fait preuve. Toute la journée durant, activités et ateliers seront à la portée de tous, petits et grands, simples passants ou purs passionnés en accès totalement gratuit. Un festival où l’humain est plus que jamais d’actualité.
