Le contraste est très beau, le titre entier jouant sur cette dualité violence / calme absolu, tout en surprenant avec ce rythme Hip-hop claquant sur les 15 dernières secondes. Mushroom Compost tapera aussi dans cet affrontement, pétrissant des gimmicks électro aquatiques que l’on croirait sortis de Tango / Bluff, pour les martyriser à grand coup de drum affolée.
Blainville nous arrachera le premier sourire du disque, entre mélodie rigolarde et petits bleeps cristallins, mais c’est bien Lunatic Harness qui explosera les conventions instaurées par les titres précédents, démarrant sur les chapeau de roue en explosant, dynamitant, que dis-je, torturant une phase de beat-box pour la faire muter en Drill-folle-out-of-control, désamorcée par des breaks super cools à la mélodie de jeux vidéos mignonne et autres bruitages cheaps. On claque des doigts, on se dit que l’orage est passé, le parapluie est rangé, on saute dans l’herbe encore fraîche le sourire aux lèvres, le soleil brille, les oiseaux chantent, on prend sa respiration. Vlan, un Tgv nous écrase la gueule, éparpillant nos viscères aux quatre coins de la fresque, le beatboxeur frise l’épilepsie, c’est génial, le rythme ultra lourd de la fin est tellement jouissif qu’on à envie de décéder sur place, un vrai bordel, le pied total.

La première s’ouvrira sur des claviers sublimes, de coutumes chez l’anglais, qui se dérouleront lascivement avant de se faire chopper par une rythmique rampante, Amen break super rapide à filer la chair de poule. On ferme les yeux, on apprécie le voyage en se disant que le morceau arpente la même voix que ses camarades. Mais le titre bascule sur une mélodie absolument divine, à te compresser la colonne vertébrale, la passer au hachoir pour la refourguer aux requins. Très brèf, n’apparaissant que trente secondes maximum, ce petit entracte au Moog servant de miracle se fera dérouiller violemment par la rythmique. Pour revenir à la toute fin de la chanson, se posant comme conclusion parfaite d’un titre qui me paralyse à chaque fois, tant le moment de grâce, absolu, y est trop bref. On grappille les secondes comme un mort de faim, on fait abstraction de tout pour profiter de la mélodie, que l’on aimerait entendre courir pour toute une nuit. Un morceau qui se pose pour moi comme un grand classique de Paradinas, ceux qui vous marquent au fer rouge pour les dix années à venir, sans raison apparente, à l’instar d’un Twangle Frent, µ-ziq Theme ou d’un Siege Of Antioch…
La Part 2 prendra la suite directe de sa grande soeur, sans (malheureusement) faire continuer le petit diamant du dessus, mais en enrichissant le tout de violons innocents et de beats moins soutenus (bien qu’escarpés). Toujours aussi bien foutu et prenant.
Le dernier tiers du disque sera habité par deux morceaux bien sombres, tranchant avec les rythmiques rapides et convulsés du reste de la galette, pour s’enfoncer dans un brouillard maculé de claviers funèbres, dont l’alien Wanabee préfigurant certains travaux d’Aphex Twin dans sa période Drukqs, aka j’ai enregistré mon morceau dans une cave en tapant sur des objets non identifiés, le tout sur des notes glaçantes. La légende veut que ce morceau soit un “remix” du tube Wanabee des Spice Girls, vu la phrase déclamée en boucle par une voix gutturale : If you wanna be my lover, you gonna get with my friends.
On finira la tête écrasée dans les caniveaux de London, monolithe sublime, où les nappes spectrales flirtent avec les violons et les clochettes cristallines sur plus de 6 minutes. Seul sursaut, brisant littéralement ce calme et ces oppressantes ténèbres : Un beat pachydermique, saturé et craspec, qui va s’incruster par deux fois dans le morceau, histoire de lâcher quelques boucles. Ces deux pièces opaques seront séparées par l’impeccable Catkin and Teasel, Hiphop bien tranquille, à la mélodie aérienne et tristounne, qui va virer, graduellement, en Drill’n bass étouffée mais bien bordélique, giclant de partout. Hypnotique, le morceau implose petit à petit, nécrosant sa base première sous les coups de butoirs rythmiques dérouillés.
Le disque se finira sur le sublime Midwinter Log, petite balade insouciante qui va vite frôler le jeu de massacre rythmique, avec des beats acérés ne demandant qu’à se déchaîner crissant, s’étirant, vrillant, fulminant sans jamais partir véritablement à l’assaut, n’inquiétant pas la tranquille marche de violons et autres nappes célestes. C’est à la moitié du morceau que l’on frisera le chaos, avant de retomber dans la béatitude bubble-gum du départ.
Difficile d’être critique devant Lunatic Harness, tant l’album tutoie la perfection dans tous ses ingrédients, des nappes chair de poule aux mélodies belles à crever, en passant par des rythmiques bien présentes et des facettes bien variées.
Les rythmes justement, toujours épileptiques, toujours acérés, flirtant avec la Drill’n bass, sans jamais tomber dans l’ultra violence de Bilious Path, apaiseraient presque : Bien qu’escarpés, ils ne bouffent jamais la structure réelle du morceau, explosant tout en gardant une parcelle de retenue, de timidité, mettant en exergue des compos parfois à chialer.
S’il est difficile de soutenir que ce disque cristallise le meilleur de µ-ziq, tant ce dernier à évolué au cours de sa discographie, et que certains disques nous accrochent d’un point de vu strictement sentimental, (Je serai bien incapable de dire quel est mon disque préféré du bonhomme, même si Bluff Limbo m’a sûrement marqué à jamais), on s’avance sans risque en disant que ce Lunatic Harness se pose comme parfaite mosaïque musicale de l’anglais.

Le problème avec µ Ziq, c’est que je crois bien que c’est mon musicien encore en vie préféré.. et je n’ai jamais su déterminer quel album je préférais de lui. Lunatic Harness défonce en tout cas, Hasty Boom Alert est l’un des morceaux les plus “beau à en mourir” du monde de la Terre.
Je respecte son taff mais je n’est jamais vraiment accroché à se qu’il peut faire. Mais alors aucune idée du pourquoi ou du comment, si sa passe en fond sa me dérange pas mais je n’irai pas délibérément mettre un de c’est album. Simple question de gout je pense
